What Are Bookcases?

A bookcase is nothing but a piece of furniture with shelved receptacle, generally perpendicular or horizontal in shape, for the storage/keeping of books. There are many types of bookcases available in the market; right from very small bookcases for kids, teenagers, students, etc to larger bookcases for libraries which have larger storage space.

Bookcases for living room are mostly glazed with little tablets (lozenges) to preserve it from insects. It is encased with fretwork frames which generally has great beauty and elegance. Some bookcases have frameworks consisting of ornamental design, made of strips of wood or metal. Bookcases are inlaid with marquetry i.e. it is inlaid with some veneers fitted together to form a design or picture that is used in ornament furniture assembled and glazed with glided bronze. Some bookcases are finished with a slab of choice marble at the top to enhance its beauty.
